Description
Every welding inspector should be able to identify the discontinuities that they may see in a weld. They should be able to recognize the welding process to help in identifying process specific abnormalities. These may include lack of fusion, porosity, incomplete penetration, weld spatter, arc strikes, longitudinal cracks, undercut, etc. These specimens have been created to help in this process. There are many more flaws that can’t be duplicated here, but these are considered to be the most common. If you are going to be a mechanical inspector, you should be familiar with at least the discontinuities that are replicated in this set.
